Attractive to many. Repellant to radio.
The scenery that once inspired Jane Austen now draws discerning families to make a home here. In addition, 2 million people a year visit the South Downs National Park.
But our area has always been a hostile environment for broadcasting.
FM and DAB signals struggle to cross the undulating topography of the chalk Downs, the dense wooded hills known as the Hampshire Hangers and the Surrey Hills.
That’s why we’ve created East Hampshire DAB.
It's a hyper-local DAB multiplex designed to bring digital radio to affluent communities in East Hampshire where choice is limited and reception has been patchy.
East Hampshire DAB offers affordable coverage of some of England’s most desirable yet hard to reach towns and villages, and a key stretch of the A3.
Families in our region have the second highest GDP per capita. Rajar suggests they have the third highest usage of DAB at 63%.
It’s a healthy population too with one of the top ten lifespans in the UK.
The historic market town of Petersfield has been rated the best place to live in the South East by the Sunday Times.
Ofcom estimates our launch network of two transmitters brings strong indoor coverage to 38,000 adults in East Hampshire.
Planned coverage extensions will add a further 22,000 adults.
From launch, East Hampshire DAB covers the conurbations of Petersfield, Liphook, Hindhead, Whitehill and parts of Bordon.
Smaller settlements of Rogate, Sheet, Steep, Stroud, Buriton, Nyewood, Blackmoor and Headley also enjoy indoor coverage.
In addition, we fill the pesky coverage gap on the A3 between Butser and Hindhead.
Transmission extensions are planned for Alton and to strengthen the signal in and around Bordon.
Our pricing is designed to encourage a wide range of digital radio services to broadcast in East Hampshire.
We provide an affordable entry point to DAB if you're building a new radio service. We can also help established brands extend their coverage into East Hampshire and deliver continuous coverage along the A3.
Ofcom licensed commercial DSP services can be on air for as little as £60 per month and community-run C-DSP licensees based in the local area even less.
